Winter Aperol Spritz with a Spiced Cranberry Simple Syrup

This Winter Aperol Spritz with a Spiced Cranberry Simple Syrup will become your favorite wintertime drink.  You need to serve this to your guests on Christmas Eve.  It is so delicious and trust me they will love it!!

The simple syrup can be made in advance. I store mine in a mason jar (also, it is incredible in an old fashion!).

Then mix up the drink when you are ready to serve.

Spiced Cranberry Simple Syrup (this syrup makes about 12 Drinks)

1 Cup Water

1 Cup Sugar

1 ½ Cups Fresh Cranberries

1 Orange, Just the peel

2 Cinnamon Sticks

4 Cloves

1 Sprig Rosemary

For the Spritz (makes one drink)

3 oz. Prosecco

2 oz. Aperol

1 oz. Spiced Cranberry Syrup

1 oz. Club Soda

Garnish with sliced oranges, a cinnamon stick and rosemary sprig

For the simple syrup, combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan on a very low flame and warm until the sugar is dissolved. This will take about 6 to 8 minutes. Turn off the flame and let it sit and cool for about a half hour. Strain and store in a airtight container.

For the cocktail, fill a glass with ice and add the prosecco, Aperol, spiced cranberry syrup, club soda. Mix with a stirrer. Garnish and serve!
