These Pepperoni Pesto Puff Pastry Twists are an incredible appetizer that comes together in minutes. You are going to love them. You can even use in a bread basket
Ingredients
(Makes about 12 Twists)
1 Puff Pastry Sheet
4 tbsp. Cream Cheese, softened
2 tbsp. Pesto, you can use store bought or homemade.
1 Cup Grated Gruyere, plus 3 tbsp. for topping
2 oz. Sliced Pepperoni diced
2 tbsp. Fresh Basil, chopped
1 Egg, beaten
Tomato Sauce for Dipping
Method
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
On a clean surface dusted lightly with flour and roll out the puff pastry gently to a 15 x 9 rectangle.
In a small bowl mix the cream cheese and pesto. Spread the mixture all over the top of the entire piece of puff pastry.
Over the bottom half of the piece of the pastry, sprinkle on the 1 cup of Gruyere, the pepperoni and the basil.
Fold the top half of the dough over the bottom half of the puff pastry.
Gently press on the dough to seal it all together.
Cut the dough into ½ inch strips using a knife or pizza cutter.
Twist each piece and put on the parchment paper.
Brush each piece with the beaten egg. Sprinkle the 3 tbsp. Gruyere over the top of each piece.
Bake for 18 to 20 minutes. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping
Recipe notes…. These are best made fresh and served immediately. But they can be made in advance and reheated at 350°.
