Greek Meatballs "Keftedes"

Greek Style Meatballs. They are a healthy recipe that you must try.  They are full of flavor and perfect for the grilling season.

For this recipe I use Teresa’s Tuscan Spice.  I sell this Italian spice blend on my website.  Honestly, it is amazing.  I use it on so many things….potatoes, in salads, on fish, chicken and so much more.  Be sure to check out the highlight in my profile for more recipes with this spice.  If you don’t want to buy the spice, you can use a store bought Italian Spice blend.  But I highly recommend that you give Teresa’s a try!

Also, just a quick note… I like to cook my garlic and my onions before I put them in the meatball mixture. I do this because I feel like a cutdown on how potent the flavors of onions and garlic can be. You do not have to do this step; you can leave everything raw and just put it into the meatball mixture.

Ingredients

(Makes about 20 Meatballs)

2 lbs. Ground Beef

2 Eggs, beaten

1 Small Onion, chopped finely

3 tbsp. Fresh Dill, chopped

3 tbsp. Parsley, chopped

2 tbsp. Italian Spice Blend, I use Teresa’s Tuscan Spice

1 tsp. Salt

1 Lemon, juiced

4 tbsp. Olive Oil

6 tbsp. Italian Style Bread Crumbs

3 Garlic Cloves

Serve with Tzatiki, You can find that recipe on this website. Type “Tzatiki” in the search bar.

Method

Heat up your grill to about 400 degrees.

In a small frying pan, heat up the garlic and onions in the 4 tbsp of olive oil on a very low flame. Sauté until everything is cooked through. Remove the garlic and mash and return to the oil.

NOTE: You do not have to do this step. You can leave everything raw and just add it to the bowl with the beef to make the meatballs.

In a bowl, combine ground beef, eggs, dill, parsley, Teresa's Tuscan Spice, salt, lemon juice, and bread crumbs.

Mix and form into balls and then press down gently into patties, about 2 tablespoons each. Then get them right on the grill. You can also do these in the oven.  I would bake at 400 for about 30 minutes. Cook on both sides for about 3 to 3 minutes, or until cooked thru.

I like to serve topped with my homemade tzatziki.
