I love French Fries but I don’t like to eat fried foods all the time. So, I have come up with these Mediterranean style French fries. They are so good you will not miss the frying.
For the Italian spice in this recipe, I use Teresa’s Tuscan Spice. It is available here on my website. I literally put it in so many things. The other night I grilled a piece of fish with the spice, lemon juice and olive oil and it was incredible. Weekly I make grilled chicken with the same method and it is so good. I feel like it helps me to keep my food light but flavorful!!
IAir Fryer French Fries with Yogurt Dipping Sauce (Tzatiki)
(Serves 3)
Ingredients
3 Russet Potatoes (about 2 lbs)
½ tsp Salt
1 tsp. Teresa’s Tuscan Spice or an Italian Spice Blend
2 tbsp. Olive Oil
Tzatziki
1 Seedless Cucumber -shredded
1 ½ Cups Greek Yogurt
2 tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
5 tbsp. Fresh Lemon Juice
2 Garlic Cloves grated
½ tsp. Salt
Method
For the yogurt dipping sauce, grate your cucumber on a cheese grater and put in a dish cloth. Squeeze out as much water as you can. Put the cucumber in a bowl and add all the other ingredients and mix well. Quick note, make sure your garlic is grated really well. Refrigerate
For the fries, preheat the airfryer to 400.
Slice the potatoes. I like to slice the potatoes long ways into ovals. About ¾ inch thick. Then slice into fries about ¼ inch each for each French fry.
Soak in ice water for about an hour and then rinse and dry well.
In a large bowl combine the potatoes, salt, olive oil and Italian spice blend. I use Teresa’s Tuscan Spice.
Place some of the potatoes in the air fryer. I find that a single layer or double layer works best.
Cook for 6 minutes, toss and then cook for about 5 more minutes. You might have to do this in stages depending on your airfryer. I keep the cooked fries in a warm oven on a baking sheet while I am cooking. If you do not have an air fryer you can cook in the oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Be sure to turn half way.
Once all the fries have cooked serve with tzatziki on the side.
