Hello, my name is Dena Fenza Williams. So nice to meet you. I was born in Brooklyn, NY to a very large Italian-American family from Naples and Calabria. From an early age, my family continued to carry on many of the traditions from Italy here in the USA. Generations later they are still very much a part of who we are as a family, and I would not trade that for the world. I am a graduate of Fordham University. As a student, I loved attending school there because not only was I close to my favorite baseball team, the Yankees, but I was walking distance from Little Italy of the Bronx. As a young college student, I loved being so close to amazing Italian restaurants, shops, and markets. I was amazed at all the fabulous Italian products I would find. I cooked all the time for my friends, roommates, and even a few Jesuit priests. After college, I taught third grade until I had children of my own. When they were young instead of going back to teaching, I began doing cooking classes and catering and working in restaurants to make an extra income. I eventually opened my own place. The restaurant was a seven-day breakfast, lunch, and dinner operation. Rather than have my then-fiance raise my 3 kids and his 2 on his own, I decided to close. I have been home with the kids ever since. In 2014, I remarried in Montalcino, Italy to my husband. We now have five children. We hope to someday retire there and truly live “La Dolce Vita.”

My name is Annalisa Clarice Truicko DeFalco and I was born in Mineola, NY, and grew up in Muttontown, NY. I attended Long Island University, CW Post Campus where I majored in Criminal Justice and minored in Psychology, earning my Bachelor of Arts Degree. I continued my studies at Hofstra Law School earning a Juris Doctorate Degree (JD). Upon graduating from law school I worked in Brooklyn, NY, as an Assistant District Attorney. I’m currently a Fund Administrator on Long Island. My great-grandparents were from Naples and the Campania region of Italy. I’ve always enjoyed cooking, learning at a young age by observing my mother spending long hours by the stove. As I became older, I began to cook for myself. Now as a mother and wife I continue to cook for my family today and enjoy having the holidays at my home. I reside in Long Island, New York with my husband, twin teenage son, and daughter, and three Labrador retrievers.

About MIciamammas

In January of 2020 on a girls weekend getaway, we talked about starting a lifestyle page on Instagram. This came to life a few months later with Miciamammas. Soon this page evolved into an Italian American page. Our focus is on food, family, travel and life. We found this was our niche. I guess Lisa and I couldn’t help it, it was part of who we are. Being Italian American and carrying on the culture and traditions of the mother country is very important to us. Sharing this love with others has been a true joy and is often therapeutic for us. We love displaying our dishes in a way that becomes art and making it easy for everyone. It gives us a sense of pride to make a dish that tastes delicious and then to share it with others. The ultimate is when one of our followers makes one of our dishes or follows one of our suggestions and shares it with us. It truly brings us joy. So, be sure to follow us on instagram where we display our wonderful traditions with you every day.
